A total of 1,110 apprenticeship positions are available across three categories: Trade (ITI), Technician (Diploma), and Graduate (Degree). The stipend is shared equally between RSP and the Board of Practical Training (DBT mode). For ITI Trade Apprentices, the Cashier Operator Programmer (COPA) and Welder trades receive a slightly lower stipend of ₹9,600 per month, while all other ITI trades get ₹10,560.
Trade (ITI) Apprentices:
ITI pass (NCVT) in the relevant trade.
Accepted trades include Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Turner, Machinist, COPA, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Tool & Die Maker, ICTSM, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Refrigeration & AC, and other listed trades.
Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:
Diploma in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical/Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Chemical, Computer Science, IT, Electronics & Telecommunication, Automobile, and allied disciplines.
Additional qualifications: GNM Nursing, Pharmacy, DMLT, and other paramedical diplomas.
Graduate (Degree) Apprentices:
Degree in listed Engineering disciplines OR B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, BBA, B.Sc. Nursing, and other listed streams.
Candidates must have passed as a regular candidate within the last five years (2022‑2026).
Minimum Age: 18 years
Maximum Age: 28 years as on 31 August 2026
Age Relaxation: As per Government of Odisha guidelines for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, etc.).

The monthly stipend is a key component of the apprenticeship and is directly linked to the category and trade:
Trade (ITI) Apprentices: ₹10,560 per month (₹9,600 for COPA and Welder)
Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹10,900 per month
Graduate (Degree) Apprentices: ₹12,300 per month
The stipend is paid each month throughout the one‑year training period, split 50% by RSP and 50% under the Board of Practical Training (DBT). This ensures a steady income while acquiring practical skills.
There is no written exam or interview. SAIL selects apprentices purely on academic merit using the following formula:
30% weightage to Class‑X marks.
70% weightage to ITI/Diploma/Degree marks.
Shortlisted candidates are required to attend a walk‑in session for document verification. They must bring originals and self‑attested copies of all certificates. A Medical Fitness Certificate from a government hospital is also mandatory before final engagement.
The walk‑in dates are from 1 September to 26 September 2026. Candidates should monitor the official notification for exact group‑wise schedule.
