The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released the much‑awaited Section Controller notification under Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 03/2026. A total of 119 posts are open across 21 RRBs and the Zonal Railways throughout India. Section Controller is a Pay Level 6 position responsible for managing the safe movement of trains in a section.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: A Graduate Degree from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification. Any discipline is allowed – there is no branch or stream restriction.

• Age Limit: 20 to 33 years as on 1 July 2026.

  • OBC‑NCL: +3 years relaxation

  • SC / ST: +5 years relaxation

  • PwBD: +10 years relaxation

  • Ex‑Servicemen: As per rules

• Candidates awaiting final results should not apply; the degree must be complete by the closing date of 14 August 2026.

Salary & Benefits

Section Controller is placed in Level 6 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month. Over the career progression, the pay can go up to ₹1,12,400 per month. In addition to the basic pay, you receive regular railway allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other admissible benefits. After the prescribed training period, full pay begins; during training a stipend is paid. Selection Process

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

CBT is the first screening stage. It consists of 100 objective‑type questions to be completed in 120 minutes. Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. Sections and marks:

• Analytical & Mathematical Capability – 60 marks

• Logical Capability – 20 marks

• Mental Reasoning – 20 marks

Minimum qualifying marks: 40 % for UR/EWS, 30 % for OBC‑NCL/SC, 25 % for ST.=

2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Only candidates equal to 8 times the advertised vacancies are shortlisted for CBAT. The test is psychological aptitude based, has no negative marking, and requires a minimum T‑Score of 42 in each test battery (no category relaxation). CBAT score carries 30 % weightage in the final merit.

3. Document Verification (DV)

Shortlisted candidates must present original certificates and documents as specified.

4. Medical Examination

Candidates undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the A‑2 medical standard.

4. Upload a recent live photograph and signature as per the prescribed size format.

7. Only one application to one RRB is allowed. Applying to more than one RRB will result in rejection of all applications.

8. A modification window (17 – 26 August 2026) is available for changes, subject to a modification fee.
