Passed Class 12 (Arts/Science/Commerce) from Rajasthan Board or equivalent; computer certificate (DOEACC O Level, COPA/DPCS, Diploma in CS/Application, RSCIT, or Class 12 with Computer Science); shorthand speed 70 wpm (Hindi) or 80 wpm (English); typing speed ≥8000 key depressions per hour; age 18‑40 years as on 1 Jan 2027 (with category relaxations).

The Rajasthan High Court, headquartered in Jodhpur, has released a new notification for the post of Stenographer. Educational Qualification
Passed Class 12 (Senior Secondary) in Arts, Science, or Commerce from the Rajasthan Board or an equivalent recognised board.
Good working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script, along with knowledge of Rajasthani dialects.
Hold one computer certificate such as:
DOEACC ‘O’ Level
CAPA/DPCS
Diploma in Computer Science / Application
RSCIT
Class 12 with Computer Science as a subject
Shorthand & Typing Skills
Hindi Shorthand: 70 words per minute (for Hindi Stenographer posts)
English Shorthand: 80 words per minute (for English Stenographer posts)
Computer Typing Speed: minimum 8,000 key depressions per hour
Age Limit
Must be between 18 and 40 years of age as on 1 January 2027.
Age Relaxation (as per Rajasthan government rules)
SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS – 5 years
Women (all categories) – 5 years
Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) – 5 years (additional)
Ex‑Servicemen – 15 years (maximum age 50)

The 163 vacancies are distributed as follows:
Stenographer Grade‑III (Hindi): 130 in Non‑TSP areas, 11 in TSP areas
Stenographer Grade‑III (English): 9 in Non‑TSP areas, 4 in TSP areas
Stenographer Grade‑II (Hindi): 7 in Non‑TSP areas, 2 in TSP areas

The Rajasthan High Court follows a three‑stage skill‑based competitive examination. There is no objective MCQ paper, thus negative marking is not applicable.
A dictation passage is provided at the required speed (70 wpm for Hindi posts, 80 wpm for English posts). Candidates must transcribe the passage on a computer within the allotted time. This test carries 100 marks.
Compulsory for all applicants, this test comprises two sections: Speed Test (50 marks) and Efficiency Test (50 marks). Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks in each subsection to proceed.
After the merit list is prepared based on aggregate marks from Stages 1 and 2, shortlisted candidates appear for:
An interview (does not carry any marks)
Document verification to confirm eligibility
A medical fitness examination
Final appointment is granted only after successful completion of all these stages.
