Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has released a recruitment notification for 52 executive‑level posts of Engineers and Geologists at the E1 grade for the year 2026. This is a prime opportunity for engineering graduates and geology postgraduates seeking a career in India's largest PSU.
The selection is conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by interview and medical fitness. The online application window opens on 17 July 2026 and closes on 31 July 2026. Interested candidates can apply for only one stream that matches their qualification.

Pay scale (E1): ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000 per month (approx ₹26 lakh CTC/year)

Candidates must meet the educational qualification, age limit and reservation rules as specified.
Petroleum Engineering: Graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering or Applied Petroleum Engineering with minimum 60% marks.
Mechanical Engineering: Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks.
Chemical Engineering: Graduate degree in Chemical Engineering with minimum 60% marks.
Instrumentation Engineering: Graduate degree in Instrumentation Engineering with minimum 60% marks.
Geology: Post‑graduate degree in Geology or M.Sc./M.Tech in Petroleum Geoscience / Petroleum Geology / Geological Technology with minimum 60% marks.
Maximum age (UR / EWS): 26 years for engineering streams and 27 years for the geology stream, as on 31 July 2026.
Age relaxations: OBC (NCL) +3 years, SC / ST +5 years, PwBD +10 years, and ex‑servicemen as per applicable rules.
The E1‑level remuneration is one of the best among Indian PSUs.
Pay Scale (E1): ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000 per month.
Allowances: 35% of basic pay under the Cafeteria Approach, Dearness Allowance, HRA / company accommodation, and Performance Related Pay.
Approx. CTC: Around ₹26 lakh per year.

Total questions: 85 in 2 hours.
Domain subject: 40 questions.
Aptitude: 25 questions.
General Awareness: 10 questions.
English: 10 questions.

Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a 1:5 ratio based on CBT performance.
Compulsory as per ONGC medical rules.
Final merit uses a weightage of CBT 85 : Interview 15.
